Hu Lezhi, a Chinese individual, has stirred the cryptocurrency community by burning over $1.3 million worth of Ethereum (ETH).
This was not a simple transaction, but part of an unusual series of transfers that have sparked intrigue. Lezhi alleges that a group of Chinese investors and companies have been using “brain-computer weapons” to manipulate their employees, turning them into what he terms as “puppets” or “slaves” of technology.
Lezhi’s Claims
Lezhi, who identifies himself as a programmer and entrepreneur, says he has been under the surveillance and control of a secret group since birth. He claims he became aware of this in October 2022, after which the situation escalated.
He accuses prominent Chinese business leaders Feng Xin and Xu Yuzhi of Kuande Investment of using these supposed “brain-computer weapons” to persecute individuals within their company. He even suggested that the CEOs themselves were under the control of these devices.
The Ethereum tokens were sent to a burn address — a permanent destination where funds are irreversibly destroyed. Lezhi’s actions have been tracked by crypto intelligence platform Arkham, which revealed that the total amount of ETH transferred to various addresses recently amounts to nearly $5 million.
Tracking the Transfers
In addition to the funds burned, significant amounts were also sent to the Ethereum Foundation and WikiLeaks, along with transfers to a new address and a Coinbase account. Arkham reported that the address has sent $4.95M to the burn address, Wikileaks, and the Ethereum Foundation this week.
It was unveiled that the transfer process started on February 10 and continued until February 17, with many transactions carrying a similar warning: “There is a new mode of crime in which the victim is gradually deprived of his senses of desire until he becomes a complete slave to the digital machine, and if one day I become a victim of the final stage, I will leave the world.”
This unusual and alarming act has gained attention due to its scale and bizarre claims. Lezhi’s explanation of “brain-computer weapons” controlling individuals is hard to believe, deepening the mystery. The key question is whether this alleged mind-control tool influenced him to transfer such a large amount of Ethereum.
Regardless, sending the tokens to a burn address has reduced ETH’s supply, which could potentially boost its value.
