Highlights

  • The Bitcoin price traded near $81,600 as analyst Michaël van de Poppe says a bullish weekly cross is about to form.
  • Spot Bitcoin ETFs logged $5.06M in net inflows on October 15 after a $261.46M outflow the day before.
  • BTC needs to hold the $76,000 to $80,000 support zone to keep the bullish setup intact.

Crypto analyst Michaël van de Poppe said a rare bullish cross is about to form on the weekly chart of Bitcoin. According to him, the same setup appeared in 2013, 2016, 2019 and 2023, and each time it came before a major leg higher for Bitcoin.

With BTC trading around $82,140 and spot ETF flows turning slightly positive again, traders are now watching whether the pattern plays out the same way this time.

Why Bitcoin’s Bullish EMA Cross Could Signal a New Rally

Van de Poppe shared his view in a post on X, writing that “the bullish cross is about to happen on Bitcoin.” He listed the four previous occurrences and added, “Again, it’s happening.”

His argument rests on history. “Every time that this takes place, it’s the start of the next big impulse move on Bitcoin and therefore a new bull market,” he wrote.

The analyst also believes the asset is mispriced at current levels. In a separate post, he called Bitcoin “extremely undervalued” and said the last bull cycle never produced the kind of parabolic run seen in earlier cycles.

Many traders still expect smaller gains with each cycle, but Van de Poppe disagrees. He said,

“I don’t think that this will play out. A lot of people will be surprised.”

His view puts the current Bitcoin price setup closer to an early-cycle base than a late-cycle top. If he is right, the recent pullback was a reset before the next run higher.

Bitcoin ETFs Recover With $5M in Net Inflows

Spot Bitcoin ETF data shows that the funds recorded $5.06 million in net inflows on October 15, a small figure that still broke a run of heavy daily swings.

One day earlier, the products saw $261.46 million in outflows, after taking in $175.62 million on October 13.

Daily BTC ETF data: SoSo Value

The weekly totals show how choppy demand has been. The week ending October 15 stands at a net outflow of $146.19 million.

The week before was much worse, with $681.10 million leaving the funds, led by a $487.07 million outflow on October 7 and another $244.13 million on October 8. The week ending October 2, by comparison, brought in $241.09 million.

Bitcoin Price Analysis: Can This Confirm a Bullish Reversal?

On the weekly chart Van de Poppe shared, BTC traded near $81,600 after a strong rebound from the $60,000 to $65,000 region. The move pushed the Bitcoin price above a descending trendline drawn across earlier lows, a sign that buyers have taken back some control.

The weekly MACD, which is built from exponential moving averages, backs up that read. The MACD line has crossed above its signal line, and the histogram has turned green.

The indicator also shows a possible bullish divergence. Bitcoin printed lower lows earlier in 2026 while the MACD strengthened, a pattern that often appears near the end of a downtrend.

Support sits between $76,000 and $80,000, the green zone on his chart. Van de Poppe has said Bitcoin “needs to hold above this weekly block and everything is fine.”

He added that after the recent bounce, he does not expect much more downside and is “looking back upwards.”

Resistance lies between $82,800 and $85,000, where sellers have stepped in on recent attempts. A clean weekly close above that band would give the crossover more credibility.

Bitcoin Price Prediction: Next Major Impulse Move?

Three situations stand out for Bitcoin price over the coming weeks. In a bullish scenario, BTC holds the $76,000 to $80,000 zone and breaks through $83,000 to $85,000.

That would open the way toward $90,000, with higher resistance levels above it. This scenario fits Van de Poppe’s call for a new impulse move and a fresh bull market. In the second case, Bitcoin trades sideways between support and $85,000 while buyers and sellers fight for control. ETF flows would likely decide which side wins that battle.

The bearish case comes into play with a sustained weekly close below the support zone. That would weaken the bullish structure and raise the risk of a correction.
