Crypto ETF inflows surged as institutional buyers returned, with Bitcoin and Ethereum leading a broader wave of fresh capital.

Crypto ETFs just posted their strongest run since May, pulling in nearly $2 billion within two trading sessions.
Bitcoin's breakout past $70,000 sparked it on Wednesday, drawing institutional buyers back after months of caution. By Friday, altcoins were joining the rally too, spreading gains across nearly every listed digital asset ETF on the market.
Bitcoin endured a bleak week before Wednesday's unexpected surge changed everything. Price jumped sharply, pushing BTC past $70,000 for the first time.
The next 48 hours saw over $1.61 billion flow into spot Bitcoin ETFs combined. Thursday alone brought $606 million, the highest single-day total in nearly four months.

BlackRock's IBIT dominated, capturing roughly 82% of Thursday's inflows. Combined BTC ETF assets have now climbed above $90 billion.
Ethereum followed closely behind, drawing $220 million on August 20 as its price surged past $2,350, up over 25% for the week. This marked the highest single-day ETH ETF inflow since October 2025, ending a brutal ten-month dry spell that had drained billions from the funds earlier this year.

Among smaller tokens, Chainlink surprised many analysts. LINK posted $3.63 million in Thursday inflows alone, with $8.19 million entering the asset across the full week.
Despite its smaller market cap, LINK has attracted steady investor attention. Analysts credit this to Chainlink's growing utility within institutional blockchain infrastructure and cross-chain settlement projects.

XRP also outperformed Solana over the past 24 hours, despite recording smaller headline inflows overall. The five XRP ETFs averaged $2.64 million each in inflows. Solana's nine ETFs, by comparison, averaged just $1.62 million apiece, nearly $1 million less per fund. That single-day gap held throughout the week as well.
Over the full seven days, SOL ultimately outperformed XRP anyway, pulling in $28 million in inflows against $23 million for XRP. Every listed asset closed the week positive.

Several forces converged to fuel this rebound. President Trump publicly pushed Congress to pass the Clarity Act, legislation that would define whether crypto assets are securities or commodities. That regulatory clarity push, combined with the U.S. Treasury's decision to double long-term bond buybacks, eased yields and revived risk appetite across markets broadly.
Short sellers were caught badly off guard by the sudden move. Roughly $3 billion in short positions were liquidated during the breakout, accelerating bitcoin's climb higher. CoinShares' James Butterfill called it largely a macro story rather than a crypto-specific catalyst. Bernstein analysts noted ETF outflows had earlier peaked near $7 billion across May and June.
The push helped the crypto market erase the previous week’s outflows. Across all assets, ETFs showed about $366 million in outflows. Interestingly, Bitcoin and Ethereum were the only two contributors to these outflows, as the rest of the altcoins registered positive flows, albeit minimal.

Solana emerged as the asset in the most demand, posting over $10.26 million in inflows, while XRP and Hyperliquid (HYPE) followed at $2.25 million and $2.74 million, respectively. HYPE’s performance can be attributed to the mention by President Trump this week.
That reversal from outflows to inflows now has investors awaiting whether $80,000 becomes Bitcoin price’s next real test. Weekend liquidity remains thinner, which could add volatility once markets reopen.
For now, institutional demand appears to be returning in force, with fund managers rotating back into digital assets after a prolonged period of hesitation and macro uncertainty weighing on crypto broadly.
