Solana Price: Can Increasing Fees Enable Push it to $150?
Solana price's $120 breakout has more behind it than a chart pattern. Rising application fees, sustained ETF inflows and the approaching Alpenglow upgrade are giving the SOL crypto price a broader set of catalysts to watch as $150 comes into view.
Solana price reclaimed $120 after a 4% daily gain, putting the $150 resistance level back in focus.
Solana application fees jumped from $639 million in Q2 to $948 million in Q3, while spot ETF inflows extended their streak.
Alpenglow targets much faster transaction finality as broader altcoin season signals strengthen, adding another variable to SOL’s price setup.
On Oct. 2, 2026, Solana price rose by 4% over a day, recovering the $120 level as it entered the final stretch of the week. Network activity, ETF demand, and its Alpenglow upgrade are all developments drawing attention.
The immediate question is whether stronger usage can provide more than a technical reason for the move toward $150. SOL crypto price, during the previous sessions, was consolidating below $120 before breaking back above the level.
Solana trading volume was around $4.2 billion, equal to approximately 6.5% of the circulating supply market cap. The asset recovered on the back of lower-than-expected US inflation data prints, gaining a positive macro environment.
The more intriguing development concerns demand for the Solana network. As per DeFiLlama data, the on-chain fees paid by applications rose from $639 million in the second quarter to $948 million in the third quarter, registering a jump of 48% (nearly 50%) over the timeframe.
Activity on the network is therefore picking up, with transaction volume witnessing a rise. It is important to note that higher application fees do not directly translate into increased value capture by SOL token holders.
The DeFiLlama data displays utilization of the network. The link between the demand and price of SOL crypto depends on the extent to which the former drives the latter.
That being said, the link appears to be positive. The DeFiLlama dashboard indicates that application fees have overtaken the chain fees, with the former recently peaking across trading platforms, decentralized exchanges (DEX), and other protocols.
In addition, the network registered over $114 million worth of transactions within the last 24 hours, as per latest reports.
Therefore, another factor influencing the price of SOL crypto concerns the activity within the ecosystem.
Can SOL Price Hit $150?
As per TradingView’s SOL/USDT market data, Solana price is at $122 as of writing. Specifically, the asset is up by 2.5% on a weekly basis and 18.6% on a monthly basis.
In addition, Solana price has cleared several technical hurdles during the September rebound. The most recent technical resistance level is at $128-$132, according to crypto analyst Ali Charts.
Hence, if and when the SOL price reclaims the $120 level and moves toward the $150 level, it will have cleared several hurdles, not just the most recent one.
Analyst Ali Martinez also reported that the $150 area is in focus from a different angle. In a Sept. 29 post, he said U.S. spot Solana ETFs had accumulated roughly 4.37 million SOL, worth about $450 million, and have been adding to his SOL token holdings for the last 11 consecutive weeks.
“With institutional buying fueling the move, I’m eyeing the next leg up toward $150 for Solana.”

Evidently, the technical and fundamental analyses are intertwined when it comes to the price of SOL crypto. While ETF flows represent institutional demand, the on-chain activity data highlights the usage of the network.
Alpenglow Development Adds Another Layer
The network’s upcoming Alpenglow consensusprotocol is set to slash the finality time by nearly 99%, per the Solana technical report.
This update, which is critical for reducing latency, has been finalized in Agave 4.2 and is scheduled to be deployed via Agave 4.3 in October 2026.
The report adds that the update will have “no changes to transaction execution or fees.”
