Quick Take:

  • Smaller DeFi protocols led weekly TVL gains, with Singular Farm surging 7,427% to $1.51 million, per DeFiLlama.
  • Zentra Finance rose 258% as lending grew on Citrea, while 3Jane's Ethereum credit market jumped 185% to $10.11 million.
  • The gains spread across lending, trading, staking, and gaming on newer chains such as Robinhood Chain and Cronos zkEVM.
  • Total DeFi TVL recovered to about $76.3 billion in late July after bottoming near $70 billion in June.

DeFi's latest growth is not coming from its biggest names. Several small protocols posted triple-digit TVL gains over the past week, led by Singular Farm's 7,427% jump, according to data from DeFiLlama. The percentages grab attention, but the pattern underneath matters more: fresh capital is spreading across newer chains and specialized products.

The screen filters for protocols with at least $1 million deposited, which keeps the list meaningful. Micro-protocols can print absurd percentages on a few thousand dollars; these moves involved real, if modest, liquidity.

Small Protocols Lead DeFi's Fastest Growth

Data from DeFiLlama shows that several smaller protocols recorded sharp increases in total value locked (TVL) over the past seven days. The list focuses on projects with at least $1 million deposited, which makes the moves more meaningful than gains from extremely small protocols.

Singular Farm led the group by a wide margin. Its TVL rose 7,427% to $1.51 million. The number looks huge, but the starting point matters. A smaller protocol can post a very large percentage gain when a few million dollars enter the platform. Still, the move shows that fresh liquidity is reaching projects outside the biggest DeFi names.

WEMIX followed with a 924% increase, taking its TVL to $2.54 million. Uupon, a concentrated-liquidity DEX built on Robinhood Chain, gained 358% to $3.46 million.

The growth was also spread across different types of DeFi. Beam's gaming-focused DEX gained 283%, while H2 Finance, a DEX on Cronos zkEVM, climbed 279%.

Newer Chains Are Taking More DeFi Capital

The weekly moves make more sense when viewed against the wider DeFi market.

DeFi TVL stood at about $76.3 billion during the week of July 20-26, with Ethereum still controlling more than half of the market. Ethereum held about 54.6% of total TVL, while BNB Chain and Solana were each near 6.4%.

That shows the market is still highly concentrated. But the smaller protocols gaining quickly this week are spread across newer or faster-growing networks, including Robinhood Chain, Citrea, Beam and Cronos zkEVM.

Binance Research also found that Base, BNB Chain and Tron had increased their combined share of DeFi TVL from around 15% to 18.5% by May, while Ethereum's share fell to 52.49%.

This suggests DeFi growth is becoming more spread out even though Ethereum remains the largest pool of locked capital.

Lending, DEXs and Staking Are All Growing

The weekly list also shows that users are not investing in only one type of product.

Zentra Finance, a permissionless lending market on Citrea, saw TVL rise 258% to $1.94 million. Meanwhile, 3Jane, an Ethereum-based credit market, jumped 185% to $10.11 million.

3Jane stands out because its TVL is already above $10 million, making its percentage gain more notable than a similar increase from a protocol with only a few hundred thousand dollars.

Liquid staking also made the list. Bitget SOL increased 58.96% to $17.13 million, giving it the largest TVL among the top weekly gainers shown in the data.

PowerCity on PulseChain rose 50.88% to $3.26 million, while Ellipsis Finance gained 46.73% to $1.24 million.

The mix is important because it shows that new liquidity is moving into DEX trading, lending, credit, staking and gaming, rather than one single DeFi trend.

TVL Alone Isn’t To Watch

The sharp percentage gains should not be treated as proof that these protocols have suddenly become major DeFi players. TVL measures how much capital is deposited, but it does not show how often that capital is being used or how much revenue a protocol generates.

That difference has become more important as the DeFi market matures. Ethereum, for example, recently saw its TVL rise while DEX trading activity moved lower, showing that more locked capital does not always mean more trading.

The wider market is also recovering from a difficult period. Binance Research reported that DeFi TVL fell to $79.5 billion in May, down 4.11% from April, after major security losses hit the sector.

The biggest takeaway from this week's numbers is not the 7,427% figure itself. It is the growing number of smaller platforms attracting capital across different networks and use cases.
