SUI price broke above $1 after a 41% week, with analysts eyeing resistance at $1.16 and $1.42 and one trader calling for $2.

SUI has gone from forgotten to front of the queue in a week. The token traded at $1.04 on 22 September 2026, according to CoinGecko, up from about $0.73 a week earlier, as it broke out of a range that had held it since June.
Daily trading volume reached about $1.99 billion, according to CoinGecko data, the kind of turnover SUI had not seen in months. The move landed as the wider market recovered, with Bitcoin hitting an eight-month high above $85,000 on 21 September.
Analysts are now split less on direction than on distance: how far this breakout runs before it meets real selling.
For most of the summer, SUI went nowhere. The token traded in a tight band near $0.70 from June through August, and was still at $0.71 on 17 September, according to Bybit data.
Then it moved. SUI rose about 14% in the past 24 hours alone, according to Coinbase data, and pushed through $1 on the heaviest volume since May. Its seven-day range now runs from a low of $0.675 to a high of $1.08, according to Crypto.com data.
The context is worth keeping in view. SUI is still roughly 81% below its all-time high near $5.37, set in January 2025, according to OKX data. This is a recovery from deep lows, not a return to form.
Analyst Michaël van de Poppe sees the breakout as the start rather than the end of the move. "Honestly, I think that there's more coming," he wrote on X.
He named two levels. "There are two clear resistance zones that I'm looking at (from a technical view). It's the $1.16 and $1.42 highs," van de Poppe wrote, adding that he "wouldn't be surprised if those are going to be tested in the coming weeks."
Both levels come from SUI's own chart. The $1.42 mark is the peak of a sharp rally in May, and $1.16 is the lower high that followed before the token slid back toward $0.70.
Trader Kaleo is more aggressive. "And there's your breakout. The squeeze from $1.00 to $2.00 should happen swiftly from here," he wrote. "People forget how fast SUI can run when it starts to move."
That $2 target sits roughly 90% above the current price, and above both of van de Poppe's resistance zones.
The sentiment shift is part of the story. "I think that $SUI has been the asset with the most hate over the course of the past months," van de Poppe wrote. "It's finally starting to get back up again. Fully deserved."
The community sentiment has turned with it. CoinGecko's community sentiment for SUI was bullish on 22 September.
Some of the renewed interest ties back to activity on the network. In the past week, Sui published work on confidential finance and announced that Daya, an African payments firm, integrated Sui as settlement infrastructure for gasless stablecoin transfers, as mentioned on the Sui blog.
The first level is the one SUI just reclaimed. The daily low on 22 September touched $0.998 before buyers stepped in, so $1 is acting as support for now. A clean close below it would put the breakout in question.
Below that, the top of the summer range near $0.90 is the next cushion, with the $0.70 base as the level the whole move started from. On the upside, $1.08 is the immediate ceiling after this week's high. Beyond it sit van de Poppe's two zones at $1.16 and $1.42, with Kaleo's $2 as the stretch target.
One caution: the daily relative strength index (RSI), a momentum gauge, has moved into overbought territory after a 41% week. That does not stop a trend, but it makes a pullback to retest $1 more likely before the next leg. A small token unlock of 13.26 million SUI, about 0.13% of total supply, is also scheduled for 1 October, according to CoinGecko.
