Quick Take:

  • Uniswap (UNI), Aave (AAVE), Hyperliquid (HYPE), and Pendle (PENDLE) top the crypto tokens to watch this week.
  • Analysts say projects generating real revenue could outperform hype-driven tokens as money returns to DeFi.
  • Fee sharing, token buybacks, and protocol upgrades stand out as the key catalysts.
  • Fed minutes and US jobs data could sway the broader market in the days ahead.

Decentralized finance (DeFi) is paying dividends again, and traders have noticed. As money rotates back into the sector, four revenue-generating altcoins are shaping up as the crypto tokens to watch this week: UNI, AAVE, HYPE, and PENDLE.

According to crypto analyst Emperor Osmo, fundamentals like fee sharing, token buybacks, and ecosystem growth are becoming the biggest drivers of altcoin price action.

Each of the four names below carries catalysts of its own. Here's the case for each, and what could move them in the days ahead.

Uniswap (UNI): Fee Sharing Strengthens the Bull Case

Uniswap, the largest decentralized exchange (DEX), expanded its fee switch to eight layer-2 networks earlier this year, including Base, Arbitrum, and OP Mainnet. The change ties protocol revenue directly to the token: fees are bridged back to Ethereum and used to buy and burn UNI.

The DEX has generated over $5.6 billion in lifetime fees, including more than $40 million in the past month. Notably, Grayscale Research recently listed UNI among the crypto market's most undervalued assets, and Uniswap is expanding onto Robinhood Chain, where AI-powered trading tools could pull in new users.

Moreover, it is supported by the expansion of its fee switch across eight Layer-2 networks and healthy protocol revenue, which could increase network usage and attract more users.

UNI traded at $3.13, with a market cap of about $1.94 billion.

Aave (AAVE): Deposits and Buybacks Support Higher Prices

Aave, the largest decentralized lending protocol, went live on the Monad network on 2 July and drew over $100 million in deposits within 48 hours, aided by an incentive program from the Monad Foundation. Deposits on Aave V4, which launched on Ethereum in late March, crossed $250 million the same weekend, an all-time high for the version.

Another catalyst is the planned annual token buyback program, which would use protocol revenue to purchase AAVE from the open market. Crypto analyst Michaël van de Poppe also believes AAVE has entered a fresh uptrend, calling any pullback a potential buying opportunity.

The project is backed by rapid deposit growth on Monad, with record deposits on Aave V4, planned token buybacks, and an improving technical outlook, making this altcoin a hot pick this week.

AAVE traded at $93.95, with a market cap of around $1.4 billion.

Hyperliquid (HYPE): Revenue Leader Continues to Impress

Hyperliquid remains one of DeFi's fastest-growing names on the back of raw revenue. The decentralized perpetual futures platform earned more than $71 million in protocol fees over the past month and directs nearly all of it to HYPE buybacks.

So far, the project has generated more than $71 million in monthly fees, with nearly all of the revenue used for HYPE buybacks. A recent TradingView integration gives the platform greater visibility among traders, and HYPE continues to hold above key support levels.

HYPE traded at $69.69, with a market cap of $17.6 billion.

Pendle (PENDLE): Quiet Progress Could Pay Off

The underdog of the list, Pendle, saw slower revenue growth recently but keeps building. The team is expanding its Boros platform while deepening its Aave V4 integration, where Pendle's yield-bearing assets are expected to play a bigger role in the coming months.

The protocol has also cut token incentives to focus on long-term sustainability. On the charts, a breakout above the $1.51 to $1.56 resistance zone could spark fresh momentum.

The project continues to expand the Boros ecosystem, deepen its integration with Aave V4, build a more sustainable token model, and benefit from growing demand for tokenized yield products.

PENDLE traded at $1.49, with a market cap of around $250 million.

What to Watch in Crypto This Week

This week isn't just about crypto. Markets will also digest the US Services PMI, the Federal Reserve's meeting minutes, China's inflation data, and jobs reports from both the US and Canada.

On the crypto side, traders are watching Jupiter's GUM exchange private beta, Near Protocol's "Big Reveal," Berachain's biggest upgrade since mainnet, and the expected launch of tokenized stocks on Lighter.

The common thread is fundamentals. If the rotation toward revenue-generating projects continues, UNI, AAVE, HYPE, and PENDLE remain the crypto tokens to watch this week. That said, all four trade with the broader market, and a stumble in Bitcoin would test even the strongest catalyst list.
