Quick Take:
- Pump.fun has unlocked a massive 4.85 billion PUMP tokens worth $13.60 million amid the market uncertainty.
- This week, Pump.fun had a linear unlock of 7 billion PUMP tokens worth nearly $20 million, though the asset managed to gain 24% while the broader market was struggling.
- The daily chart and derivative data suggest a potential downside move ahead, as PUMP appears to be facing resistance at a key level and intraday traders seem to be betting on short positions.
The linear token unlock from Pump.fun appears to be adding selling pressure to the PUMP token's price. A crypto transaction tracker, EyesOnChain, shared a report revealing that Pump.fun unlocked a massive 4.85 billion tokens worth $13.60 million on August 14, 2026.
PUMP Token Rallies 24% Despite 7 Billion Token Unlock
In fact, this week, PUMP has a linear unlock of 7 billion tokens, worth nearly $20 million, as shared by a well-followed crypto analyst on X. Despite this mass unlock, the asset has managed to gain over 24% while the whole market was crashing.
The analyst also shared why the PUMP price went up even as the market was crashing. In the post on X, the analyst noted that over the past 30 days Pumpfun has generated over $40 million in revenue, and half of it goes straight into buying PUMP. This token buyback basically absorbed the entire selling pressure from the token unlock, the analyst stated.
Not only is the project generating revenue, but PumpFun App keeps hitting new All-Time Highs (ATHs) in daily active traders, which has supported the asset’s upward momentum.
However, today, August 15, 2026, the PUMP price has declined 3.55% over the past 24 hours and trades near $0.002792. Alongside the price decline, the asset’s trading volume also plummeted by 25.65% to $235.46 million during the same period, indicating a lack of interest from traders and investors.
PUMP: Derivative Data Flashes Bearish Signal
Looking at the current price and market sentiment, it appears that intraday traders are following this trend. Data from CoinGlass reveals that today, PUMP’s long/short ratio has fallen below the key threshold of 1 and reads 0.9613, indicating strong bearish sentiment among traders.
Meanwhile, $0.00267 on the lower side (Support) and $0.00288 on the upper side are the two key levels where traders are heavily over-leveraged. According to the PUMP exchange liquidation map, traders have built $885.14k worth of long-leveraged positions and $1.47 million worth of short-leveraged positions at these levels.

These bets show traders' current bias, which appears bearish and also hints that they expect the price to decline.
However, these positions could also be liquidated if the PUMP price moves in either direction. Means, if the sentiment remains the same and the price falls to the $0.00267 level, nearly $885.14k worth of long positions could be liquidated. Whereas, if sentiment shifts and the price jumps to the $0.00288 level, then $1.47 million worth of short bets could be liquidated.
Pumpfun (PUMP) Price Action
According to TradingView’s daily chart, PUMP appears bullish, as the price continues to trade above the 200-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) and has broken through a key resistance level of $0.002385. Following the resistance breakout, the asset has shown impressive upward momentum and is now approaching another key resistance level of $0.00313.

Based on the current price action, PUMP appears to be facing selling pressure, as the daily chart appears to be forming a second red candle.
If the price continues to decline and falls below the $0.00268 level, it may see another downside move of 14.50% to the $0.00238 level, a breakout level. However, this bearish thesis could be invalidated if the price crosses the $0.0030 level.
At press, the Average Directional Index (ADX) rose to 44.19, above the key threshold of 25, indicating strong trend strength for PUMP, which reinforces the asset’s downside risk.
